Today's Breakfast

Today's Breakfast

It happens to me as i began to wake up with leftover McD's Big Mac and lots of fries. Everybody knows that leftover fries are tasteless, bland, hard to chew, unappetizing and beg to be thrown away. So in light of making the most that i had, i refuse to give up and throw the fries away or just eat it that way, which can be a traumatizing experience. Ha ha

Then i began to think, what can i do with these limp fries that lies helplessly, like crying and begging to me to be used again? then i just realized that the previous day i made an Instagram post about McD's Fish and Fries (i do think i need to do a food video review, like the korean mukbang! what do you think? comment on below) , which is a new menu here in town. So, i began to think, why not also create an English dish with this? possibly a full English Breakfast?

So there the idea begin to spark to me. Then i immediately went to my fridge, grab some butter, and rush to the kitchen. I then preheat my frozen sausages from the fridge, with little water on my pan and began to simmer that sausages down to make them separated from their friends, coz they're sticking like a couple after a night of watching Shades of Grey together, sadly. It still has the plastic cover to it as i wait em to separate. After separation, i immediately pull off their plastic coatings and dunk em down again to that boiling water, just until they tenderize.

Then i  add my butter chunks in a pan, and then add some dried anchovies which are my twist to this English Breakfast. The aroma from them was gorgeous. Possibly adding garlic, ginger, red onion and onion here as well as nutmeg, five spice, black and white pepper and cumin will boost the tropical tastes of this dish, but i didn't think enough, i was only hungry and wanna get a quick wholesome meal for myself. I am now imagining that imaginary mix with soy sauce, hoisin and oyster sauce.. some coconut water/milk and then adding the peas... ohh my.. should try that next time!

So, set aside that imaginary thinking i just created, to that anchovy infused butter then i add my stale fries to make em life again! and it works! just fry for 2-3 minutes and with added Extra Virgin olive oil, and they come back to life...... with a tan! so that fries now tastes great, crisps and ready to be served. This alone are great as side dish or small breakfast plus egg and coffee really.

But to make it more like a full English Breakfast i gotta improvise. I then preheat my oily pan for frying my defrosted nuggets, and in another pan i put my olive oil and crack an egg. So i made two eggs, with all their yolks still running like an avalanche! just adds more appetite to me this whole view..

I plate the anchovy and fries after dried them out of their oil a bit, and then i plate too my two eggs, the ones with running yolks... after that with the leftover olive oil-anchovy butter in pan i  sear my sausages to get those gorgeous flavors as well. I do imagine to add garlic right now, but i didn't manage to think that as i was well occupied with hunger in mind. After the oil was hot enough i put my nuggets and fry them golden, and just before they turn to brown, i do sear them in olive oil-anchovy butter to absorb those great taste in a Maillard reaction

All that set aside on a plate and we're almost done. I know i know. it's not really a Full English Breakfast, maybe just half full english breakfast, haha. But i do make a good use of the leftover fries tho. It still lacks, toasts, Heinz beans, pork sausages, hash browns, black pudding or even haggish ( warning, possibly too graphic information! haha) for some upper north side of England. Maybe a really full english breakfast would look like this one. Ha ha, just for entertainment.

I do add further seasonings coz it's just me. Im an Asian. I can't eat just fried stuff without spices.. lol haha. Coconut farmers love spices too! See, so i add a little bit Provencale taste to it. After splashing it with salt n pepper, i do add thyme, rosemary and parsley just to gave it a taste. So it has a Mediterranean influence, as well as Asian in which i incorporate anchovy to the dish, and British ingredients and ways of cooking and eating breakfast. I do add drizzle of olive oil and melted butter (just a bit) and also an infused oilve oil with four peppers, which adds more Mediterranean taste to it.

I do add a local potato chips to it, made with gluten free, free of preservatives, no artificial coloring, no msg (which is great in taste! really) , biodegradable packaging and kettle cooked potatoes. the brand was Van Landa. Minding that i prefer coffee over tea (which is an English trademark) i do compliment my breakfast with an Irish Coffee, bcoz, why not? the rum taste in this esprecielo brand is likeable but i can't call it a coffee, maybe a coffee flavored drink that's all. Real coffee and instant coffee are way different. Watch here how does instant coffee makers 'perverted' (minutes 26:49) the beautiful coffee beans out of their goodness, how does it's quality compared to specialty coffee. How it's irresponsibly sourced and could gives you health problems, compared to the benefit of brewed coffee.

I believe a Mediterranean diet is more healthier than this! haha. Also to be noticed, British ways of preparing food is somehow similar to Indonesian, which involved much and much frying in oil. Is this healthy? i don't think so. At all. Especially for breakfasts. British foods prior to Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre was really a fried stuffs galore, which every health conscious persons would love to avoid. Me too, that's why i don't dare to finish it all at once. Im avoiding cholesterol and fatty foods.. but i seem to cook for my tastebuds, not my body this time, haha. How does it taste? Just try it for yourself! Allez Cuisine!

Cocount Farmers

This blog is not about coconut farmers in general, at all. Instead it is about my original cooking recipes and methods that i learned and incorporated trough the time i began to cook.

The name Coconut Farmers itself was a nickname, given by my American friend who happens to live here in Indonesia as an expat now, as he refers to the indigenous people of the island of Java. For me that name represents the richness of our country, and how we as the indigenous people of this land happily cultivates the resources that God has given to us. That means a faithful stewardship of our earth, a caring and grateful heart, and the love of our land and it's bountiful resources.

In celebration of my Indonesian Heritage in terms of culinary legacy, bountiful natural resources, and also the spirit of growth in culinary renaissance of the world i made this blog that contains my original recipes and twists to existing dishes to add more color, enthusiasm (or more like vehemence!) and variety to the existing culinary greatness that exist on our earth. For the love of food and cooking, allez cuisine!!!
